PaddlersideRDS -
Exclusive to the entire range of Seaward Composite and Thermoformed Sea Kayaks is the PaddlersideRDS System. Seaward have raised the bar when it comes to the engineering of it's Sea Kayaks. Incorporating the highest quality, seaward skeg device, Harken Rollers and 3mm ( 7x7 Ply ) Stainless Cable. The Paddlerside Rudder Deployment System has set a standard that leaves all other brands in its wake.
To deploy the rudder the paddler simply slides the Skeg Slider back in to the rear position. In shallow water the Slider is left forward of the Shock Cord retainer, in deeper water place the slider behind the shock cord retainer to secure the rudder in the down position.
It's that easy, no more fumbling around behind you for the rudder lines and a neat appearance with no extra lines on your aft deck.
Seaward Sea Kayak Rudder System -
Seaward Expedition Rudder Blades and parts are made of anodised aluminum and are corrosion resistant. The pulley is injection molded. Weight 0.9 kg. The rudder mounts on the transom' of the kayak and the blade (when not in the water) is horizontal along the stern deck. Rudder Blade size 21" x 3".
Seaward ABS Seating System -
New to the Seaward Range is our new ABS Seating system.
Featuring height and angle adjustment, cloth covered foam backrest and cloth covered seat pad on an ABS Carrier. The seat cushion is designed to maximise air flow and is buttoned to the base for added security to ensure it doesn't move when you do. Designed with comfort in mind and contoured to reduce fatigue and issues arising from prolonged sitting.
Seaward SRS System & Security Bar -
Seaward's exclusive Self Rescue System (SRS)™ provides you with the ability to incorporate a paddle float into a self rescue system. Standard on all Seaward Kayaks the SRS is easy to use and essential for any paddler venturing into open water. Seawards nylon rescue straps mounted on the deck just to the aft (at the rear) of the cockpit. Sliding your paddle under these straps at right angles to your kayak stabilises the boat for deep water re-entry with the use of an inflatable or solid foam Paddle Float Accessory. After re-entry the paddle is easily released from the straps by pulling the bright red tab.
Seaward Security Bar is built into our Single Thermoform Sea Kayak range to safeguard from theft and can be used as a tow point for emergency towing.
Seawards SafeHATCH System -
Seaward's exclusive safeHATCH™ system provides you with three levels of security, offering greater peace of mind while paddling in conditions that might be catastrophic using other's hatch sealing systems. Seaward's safeHATCH™ system starts with the tethered outer hard fiber glass or Thermoformed hatch, under this is the tethered neoprene hatch, these are both held in place by two separate shock cords with easy release tabs. In the unlikely event of loss or damage to either or both of these hatch covers, the shock cord system used to hold down the hatches can be re-routed around the fiber glass coaming to securely hold down any waterproof material such as your cockpit cover, standard on all Seaward kayaks. Seaward's safeHATCH™ system, three levels of protection and no tools or tape required.
Seawards ABS Sealed Bulkheads -
Seaward Kayaks TX Thermoformed Range incorporate ABS rigid bulkheads in all models including the Intrigue. This features increases the rigidity in the hull increasing speed and as they are sealed with Methacylate ( Not bathroom silicon ), the Bulkhead effectively becomes one with the Hull and Deck. All Composite Kayaks have rigid Fibreglass Bulkheads sealed and finished to perfection.
SeaDog Footrests Assembly -
Gone are the days where you will have to get in and out of your boat four times to get the footrests in the right position. All Seaward Kayaks now come fitted with the brilliant Seadog Footrest Assembly. Based on Seaward's Lock out design these footrests allow the paddler to adjust the footrests whilst underway, great also for Hire Operators , and families where more than one person is likey to paddle your Seaward Kayak. All you have to do is Turn the red adjuster tab inwards to adjust and push the footrest with your feet to the desired position and then lock the Tab in place. You're underway, simple as that. Comfort Carry Handles -
Our Entire Range of Seaward Thermoformed Kayaks have Comfort Carry Handles mounted for and aft for ease of lifting.These rubber / webbing grips give a secure feel when loading your pride and joy onto the roof or pulling it up the beach at your favourite paddling destination.
Replaceable Keel Guard -
All Seaward Ruddered Kayaks come standard with a replaceable keel guard strip. We receognise that sometimes it is necessary to drag you boat up the beach or onto the landing spot at your campsite. Thermoformed TX Sea Kayaks have screw in Keel guards and Composite Kayaks have the self adhesive version.
